The Foundation ofEvery Good Floor.

New flooring installed over a bad subfloor is money wasted. Squeaks get louder. Soft spots get worse. Uneven areas cause LVP and laminate to crack at the joints. The subfloor is the foundation — and it has to be right before anything else goes down.

Fox Home Services inspects every subfloor before a flooring install. When we find problems, we fix them properly — not with a bead of caulk and a hope. That means fastening squeaky areas with the right screws, replacing soft or damaged sections, and applying self-leveling compound where needed to bring the floor within flooring manufacturer tolerances.

We also do subfloor repairs as a standalone service — before you call a flooring installer, or as part of a broader renovation project.

  • Full subfloor inspection before any flooring installation
  • Squeak elimination — proper screwing and construction adhesive techniques
  • Damaged or rotten subfloor section replacement
  • Self-leveling compound application for uneven concrete and wood subfloors
  • High-spot grinding and low-spot filling to meet flooring tolerances
  • Moisture barrier installation over concrete subfloors
  • Subfloor replacement in renovation and water damage situations
  • Assessment and reporting for real estate and insurance purposes

Our Process

01
Inspection
We walk the floor, identify soft spots, squeaks, high and low areas, and any moisture concerns before quoting.
02
Fastening & Repair
Loose areas are screwed down properly. Damaged sections are cut out and replaced with matching thickness material.
03
Leveling
Self-leveling compound is mixed and poured where needed. High spots are ground down. The floor is checked with a straightedge.
04
Ready for Flooring
Once the subfloor meets manufacturer tolerances we give the green light for flooring installation to proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my subfloor needs repair?
Signs include squeaking when you walk, soft or springy spots, visible dips or humps, and flooring that has cracked, gapped, or buckled. If you're planning a new flooring install, we always recommend a subfloor check first.
Can squeaks really be eliminated?
Most squeaks can be significantly reduced or eliminated by screwing the subfloor down properly with the right fasteners and construction adhesive. We can't guarantee every squeak in every situation, but we're honest with you about what to expect.
What is self-leveling compound?
A pourable cement-based product that flows to fill low spots and create a flat surface. It's used to bring uneven concrete or wood subfloors within the tolerances required for LVP, laminate, and tile installation.
Do you do subfloor work in basements?
Yes — basement subfloor leveling over concrete is one of the most common subfloor jobs we do, especially before LVP installation in finished basements.
Can you fix water-damaged subfloor?
Yes. We remove damaged sections, address the moisture source, and replace with new material. Addressing the moisture cause is always the first priority.
